Turns out, I hadn’t made a terrible mistake, rather I had made an investment in myself at a place that valued my goals and helped me achieve them. You read that right – I missed working out! And I missed working out on an elevated floor – so kind to my aging knees. I missed the personal attention I received daily from my trainer. When I returned, I realized I missed my morning workouts! I missed the comradery of the other members. ![]() While she did record weight and body measurements, the conversation focused mostly on making better food choices and self-care.Īround week four I got the stomach flu and I had to miss almost an entire week of camps. Goals like proper form on sit-ups and fitting comfortably into my favorite jeans. Burn Boot Camp Focus MeetingĪt my first focus meeting, I was impressed as the trainer helped me set realistic goals for my current fitness level. I continued making the early morning trip to camps and I signed up for a focus meeting. Sometimes from the trainer, sometimes from other members. She gave me a few tips on my form, celebrated my improvement, and gave me an enthusiastic high five. After warming us up and explaining the workout to us, she made her way over to me as I was attempting to do a series of lunges without falling over. When I arrived the trainer greeted me by my first name. But I did make a commitment, and I did return the very next morning. Had I not made a commitment to three camps a week for six weeks, I may never have returned again. Then I realized that I had made a horrible mistake. I was quickly reminded that I sweat profusely with physical activity, and I hurt everywhere. I tried my hardest to do everything they asked of me. I brushed off my well-rested tennis shoes, pulled out my workout pants, and drove to Burn Boot Camp in Clive.
